Does anyone remember banks having Christmas clubs?

Banks used to have Christmas clubs which were special accounts designed to help you save money to buy Christmas gifts. The first such Christmas club was recorded in 1909, with the last being in 1970, when banks discovered that getting you to use a credit card was more profitable for them than encouraging you to save on your own.

Remember a credit card makes the banks money, saving on your own makes you money.
